I Didn't Know I Had a TBI

I didn‘t know I had a TBI. She asked me, “have you ever had a brain injury?” I immediately went to 29 years before. I sat there in shock….I never ever would have thought that my car accident would have created such long lasting, devastating, moments of suffering. I took a moment to take this in and then responded, “yes, I have had a brain injury. I was in a car accident when I was 7 years old. I was accidentally run over by my father in a parking lot one rainy morning when we were headed to church. I wasn‘t supposed to make it, according to the first responders.“

 I made it!

After answering a few more pages of questions asking me the the severity of the symptoms I experienced on a scale of 1-5, I sent it back. Instead of 8 months of being on a wait list, she scheduled me for 24 days later.

God new I needed to get in.

I had been battling for the better part of 17 years with the affects of this newly understood TBI. It started the year I got married until present time, March 2023. My health progressively declined through the years, until my brain and my body could not work together.

At the time of this questionnaire, it felt like it was the end of the road for me.

We only know what we know. I didn't know that I had an untreated TBI. Had I known...my life would look drastically different.

I later learned, the world did not have the knowledge they now know about correcting a TBI. It seems I had to go through those years to learn and grow and now share my story of healing.

I hope this brings you hope.

If this doesn't, I hope the sunshine will.
